The accelerator facility at KVI-CART is equipped with three ion sources i.e. an home build, AECR-U based type of an ion source, a Supernanogan manufactured by Pantechnik and a CUSP source. The three sources serve as injectors for the K600 superconducting cyclotron AGOR. The combination of these source and the cyclotron creates the opportunity to produce proton beams up to 190 MeV and heavy ions up 90 MeV/n.

Both ECR ion source are equipped with low temperature ovens for the production of metal beams. A pepper-pot emittance meter is added to the ion source equippement to study the phase-space of low energy ion beams.
