Ion source: JYFL 14 GHz ECRIS
Method: MIVOC
Compound: Titanium tetrachloride (TiCl4)
Preparation: TiCl4 is a volatile liquid, which reacts strongly with humid air producing thick clouds of TiO2 and HCl. Thus, all handling the TiCl4 was performed inside a glove box. The TiCl4 liquid was placed in a glass cup, which was housed inside a closed metal container. The container was connected to the ion source through a precision valve.
Mixing gas: O2
Microwave power: 150 W
Extraction voltage: 11.49 kV
Note: The TiCl4 compound was made of natural Cl, which has 75.76% of 35Cl and 24.22% of 37Cl. This impacts the result of 37Cl8+ presented below.
Note 2: The result presented here is taken from a delivered beam which fulfilled the intensity requirements of a particular physics experiment. It does not represent the maximum achievable current for Cl beams at JYFL. As such, the information presented here should be regarded as a presentation of the beam production method, not the maximum performance that can be achieved. More complete high performance data will be added in the future.
