Ion source parameters

Phoenix-V2 18GHz

RF power : 1.7 kW

Mixing gaz : O2

Oven power : 71 W (~1600°C off line)

Oven position : 0 mm

Source voltage : 40kV/4.7mA

Intensity : 19 µA (58Ni19+)

For <I19+> =20 µA during 2h :

Consumption : 0.4 mg/h

Total ionization efficiency :  6 %

Comments
  • The metal is melt off-line in the oven container
  • When introducing the oven into the source, the axial magnetic field must be off to prevent the magnetic nickel from escaping into the plasma.
  •  The Tantalum orifice located at the mouth of the oven is not used to reduce metal condensation.
