Introduction: MIVOC is a simple method to produce metal ion beams. In this method a volatile chemical compound including the element of interest and having a sufficient saturated vapour pressure at room temperature is placed into a vacuum chamber (for example Fe(C5H5)2). The chamber is connected to the ion source and the material is let to flow into the plasma through a dozing valve. The molecule breaks down, its components will be ionised and extracted as an ion beam. More information about the method is MIVOC method at JYFL and relevant publications are presented here.
